“Yesterday’s heresy is today’s orthodoxy”

Previously we posted "Heresy in a time of continuing revelation,” about Giordano Bruno being burned at the stake in 1600 AD for claiming that the sun, not the earth, was the center of our cosmos. It took hundreds of years, but that idea that got Bruno killed is now taught in elementary school books.

Recently LGBTQ ally Carol Lynn Pearson made the same shift from heresy to orthodoxy in a single lifetime. In an article in religionnews.com, Jana Reiss points out: “In 1973, Mormon author Carol Lynn Pearson's feature article for the Ensign magazine was pulled at the last minute, and she was banned from writing about women for Church publications. What was controversial then has become the party line” (emphasis added).”

Feeling out of synch? Maybe you're just ahead of your time. Today's heresy could be tomorrow's revelation.
