Major new revision! Gay LDS Crossroads book
From the beginning, Evan Smith’s book (Gay Latter-day Saint Crossroads: My journey, your journey, and a scripture-based path forward) was intended to be a living document, updated with major new developments. As of January 2022, the most recent revision is available! A PDF file can be downloaded at this link that shows just the changes that have been made since the last update was done in September 2020. Download or skim the entire updated e-book for free at gayldscrossroads.org.
Check out the January 2022 updates here, which include:
Evan’s reaction to Elder Jeffrey R. Holland’s talk at BYU in August 2021 (“musket fire”)
Specific instances in which Church policy contradicts scripture
Biblical passages which actually do not refer to gay relationships between two free, adult, and loving individuals, but describe rape or attempted rape (Genesis 9:20–27, 19:1–11), cultic prostitution (Leviticus 18:22, 20:13), male prostitution and pederasty (1 Corinthians 6:9–10; 1 Timothy 1:10), and the Isis cult in Rome (Romans 1:26–27)
Evan’s decision to resign as a member of the institutional Church and pursue his personal spiritual path as a Latter-day Saint Humanist (for now), while still remaining involved in the struggle for LGBTQ equality within the Church.
And more!
Because Evan made the decision to write this update after Crossroads became available to purchase (at cost) on Amazon in June 2021, these changes will unfortunately not appear in paperback.
I look forward to the day when the updates to Crossroads include full equality for ALL.
